VP BINAY AWARDS 209 TITLES TO PASIG RESIDENTS (Posted: September 23, 2014)

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Tuesday awarded titles to 209 beneficiary families under the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) of the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC).

The beneficiaries were members of the Ninoy Aquino Pilot Community (NAPICO) homeowners association in Barangay Manggahan, Pasig.

The Vice President also urged other members of the NAPICO homeowners association to emulate the example of the families that have already received titles to the land that their houses occupy.

CMP is a mortgage financing program in which the national government and the SHFC assist legally organized associations of illegal settlers to own the lots they occupy or want to be relocated to.

Since its inception in 1988, the CMP has helped 265,849 families all over the Philippines.

To further improve the government housing programs, Binay said that key shelter agencies will implement a citywide development approach where the national government, local government, and the communities involved have active participation in the process.

Aside from the CMP, government housing agencies also have other housing projects such as the localized community mortgage program for local government units and the Density Housing Program for those living in danger areas especially those living near creeks and waterways.
