Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Monday awarded housing units and land titles to 175 families displaced by the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991.
“[S]a sukat na 94 na square meters bawat lote at single-detached pa, talo pa [ng mga bahay na ito] ang ibang mga bagong tayong private subdivisions,” Binay, the Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), told the beneficiaries.
According to Binay, only 358 families have received land titles since their relocation to the EPZA Resettlement Project in 1994 but he directed the National Housing Authority (NHA) to facilitate the processing of the titles.
He said that the NHA will include the processing of titles in 16 Mount Pinatubo Resettlement Sites in Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga that have yet to be distributed.
Binay asked the beneficiaries to take care of the houses that were awarded to them, and said those who had sold their lots were already barred from other government housing projects.
The Vice President previously awarded on Saturday Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCTs) to 38 family-beneficiaries of the Social Housing Finance Corporation’ (SHFC) Community Mortgage Program (CMP) in Cebu.
He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Provincial Government of Cebu and 13 homeowners’ associations for the distribution of lots to the families in the remaining nine barangays covered by Provincial Board Resolution 93-1.
