1,200 FAMILIES TO BENEFIT FROM CAMARIN MEDIUM RISE HOUSING - VP BINAY (Posted: February 26, 2013)

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said 1,200 Informal Settler Families (ISFs) will benefit from the Medium Rise Housing (MRH) project in Barangay 175, Camarin, Caloocan City.

According to Binay, the Camarin MRH project is part of President Benigno Aquino III’s 5-year housing program for ISFs occupying waterways and other danger areas in Metro Manila.

“These activities are part of the housing sector’s efforts to fast track the delivery of housing for the Filipino families, the poor in particular. And we are very thankful that we have the full support of President Aquino,” Binay said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing project on Tuesday.

Binay said the project is located in a 2.9-hectare property owned by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and involves the construction of 10 five-storey buildings, with every floor having 24 housing units each.

“Sa amin pong konsultasyon na ginagawa sa mga magiging benepisyaryo sa pabahay, mas marami na po ang may gusto sa “in-city” medium rise housing project kaysa sa isang resettlement site na may bahay at lupa nga pero mapapalayo naman ang mga benepisyaryo sa kanilang mga pinagkakakitaan,” Binay said.

The Camarin MRH project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

Binay had earlier distributed Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCT), Certificate of Lot Awards and Certificate of Lot Allocations to 458 families in Las Piñas on Monday. He also distributed around 700 Certificates of Lot Allocations and land titles in Baguio City two weeks ago.

In 2011, President Aquino committed P50 billion for a five-year resettlement program of about 104,000 ISFs living in danger areas in Metro Manila.

An initial P10 billion was released in the same year to provide housing assistance to about 20,000 ISFs.  Another P10 billion has been allocated for this year for the same number of ISFs.
