Vice President Jejomar C. Binay once again had the highest approval rating of top government officials in the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS).
The survey, done in December 3-7 last year, showed Vice President enjoying an “excellent” +70 net satisfaction rating, a seven-point increase from the survey done in September.
“I am overwhelmed by the trust of our kababayans and I am very thankful to President Noynoy Aquino for giving me the opportunity to be of service to our fellow Filipinos, particularly our OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers),” Binay said in reaction to the survey.
“I owe my success to the continued support of the President for our programs,” he added.
Binay is the Presidential Adviser on OFW Concerns and the chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). He is also the chairman emeritus of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the head of the Presidential Taskforce Against Illegal Recruitment (PTAFAIR).
He vowed to continue the OFW and housing programs he started in 2011.
“This year we will do our best to move up to Tier 1 of the Global Trafficking in Persons Report of the U.S. State Department,” Binay said.
Countries in Tier 1 status are those who are compliant with the minimum requirements of the U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA).
Binay also said that this year, the housing sector is expanding its housing programs for AFP and PNP personnel and will strengthen its partnership with local government units for housing programs.
Meanwhile, the same SWS survey also showed President Aquino enjoying a two-point increase with a “very good” +58 net satisfaction score. Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile was rated at +36; House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte, Jr. got +8, while Chief Justice Renato C. Corona scored -14.
The Senate score fell six points to +44 (59 percent satisfied, 15 percent dissatisfied), the House dropped four to +27 (46% satisfied, 19% dissatisfied), while the Supreme Court dropped eight to a still “moderate” +21.
The survey scores were based on interviews the SWS conducted with 1,200 respondents.
SWS classifies scores of satisfaction scores of +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69,“very good”; +30 to +49, “good; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below as “execrable.”
It said error margins of plus or minus three percentage points and plus or minus six percentage points for national and area percentages were used in the survey.
