Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said the National Housing Authority (NHA) will provide home material assistance to help rebuild homes damaged by typhoon Labuyo.

“We can provide home material assistance at P5,000 per family to those whose houses were partially damaged. They can use this to buy GI sheet, cement or wood to repair their house,” Binay said.

Citing reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Binay said a total of 3,750 houses were damaged by typhoon Labuyo with 519 being classified as totally damaged while 3,231 are classified as partially damaged.

“Per NDRMMC, 360 of the 519 totally damaged houses are in Dinalungan, Aurora. We will coordinate with the local government to check if we can resettle families who lost their homes,” Binay said.

Binay also said those who want to avail of the home material assistance only needs to go to concerned NHA branches and present proof that their houses were damaged by the typhoon.

“Ang aming ginagawa pag may calamity pumupunta kami sa area. Pero kelangan yong mga apektado ang magprisinta at makipagkita sa aming tanggapan,” Binay added.

Binay had earlier announced that members of the Home Development Mutual (Pag-IBIG) Fund who were affected by typhoon Labuyo may file for calamity loans.

Binay, who is also the Pag-IBIG Chairman, said Pag-IBIG members residing in areas declared under a state of calamity are entitled to a calamity loan equivalent to 80% of their savings in the Fund.

The loan is payable over a period of 24 months at an interest rate of 5.95% per annum. Members availing of the calamity loan also have the option to defer their first payment up to three months from the release of the loan and pay their first monthly amortization on the fourth month.

Binay said members who were affected by the recent typhoon only need to submit their Application for Calamity Loan together with two valid IDs at any of its branches. The application forms may be downloaded from the Pag-IBIG website or requested at the branches.
