The Pag-IBIG Fund has allocated P4.5 billion for calamity loans at 5.95 percent annual interest payable in two years, said Vice President Jejomar C. Binay.
Binay, who visited Cebu and Bohol Thursday, urged Pag-IBIG members affected by the earthquake and other disasters to take advantage of the Fund’s programs.
“Gamitin po ninyo ang benefits ninyo sa Pag-IBIG. ’Yong mga biktima ng trahedyang ito, meron kayong pwedeng i-avail na calamity loan, personal loan at 3-month moratorium,” Binay said in an interview in Cebu City.
Binay also reminded Pag-IBIG borrowers that the Fund could help them get insurance if the unit subject of their respective loans is covered by earthquake, typhoon and allied peril insurance.
Members may file their claim at the nearest Pag-IBIG branch.
“Pag-IBIG has deployed roving offices in the affected areas so it would be easier for members to seek assistance,” the Vice President said.
Binay also mentioned that the National Housing Authority will provide P5,000 worth of home materials for residents whose houses were partially damaged. Meanwhile, the agency will resettle families whose homes were totally ruined.
“I will discuss further with Mayor (Mike) Rama the possible locations for families who lost their homes,” he said.
While in Cebu, the Vice President visited Basilica del Sto. Niño and the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
He urged the public to help the patients in the CCMC, who are in dire need of medicines. He also pledged help in the restoration of the Basilica del Sto. Niño.
Binay also instructed his office to extend relief assistance to the affected areas. Staff of the Office of the Vice President are on their way to give 1,000 bags of relief goods in Cebu and 2,000 in Bohol.
