STATEMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT JEJOMAR C BINAY ON SUPREME COURT’S ISSUANCE OF TRO ON CA, MAKATI RTC DECISION IN FAVOR OF DELFIN LEE (Posted: December 13, 2013)

            I welcome the decision of the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order (TRO) preventing the Court of Appeals (CA) from implementing its decision on the damage suit filed by Globe Asiatique against Pag-IBIG Fund.

            I believe strongly that the intent of the damage suit is to harass officials of the Fund and deflect attention from the real issue: that Globe Asiatique used "ghost" borrowers and submitted fraudulent documents in order to obtain billions of pesos from Pag-IBIG Fund.

            The issuance of the TRO is a step forward in our effort to reform the housing sector. We remain steadfast in our commitment to bring to justice those who have defrauded thousands of homeowners of their hard-earned money.
